  10. At the peak of World War II a film called “Hemp for Victory” was produced and distributed by the U.S. government to encourage farmers to grow the valuable plant for the war effort. After Nixon declared a war on pot over 20 years later the film vanished and the U.S. government denied it ever existed. In 1989, a pot activist acquired a vintage original of the film, he transferred it to VHS and amidst adamant denial of its existence by the government, that young man presented his copies to congress. The movie is once again in public domain and can be seen on YouTube. The young activists name was Jack Herer and an iconic strain of weed bears his name today.
